Almost everything we use today has been engineered in some way and there are a huge range of possibilities including manufacturing electronics, maintenance, design, welding and mechanical engineering. There is likely to be competition to join the programme and spaces are limited. You will undertake an interview at school and at the training provider- both of which will be looking for you to demonstrate that you are able, interested, well motivated with good records of behaviour and attendance. The Young Apprenticeship in Engineering is aimed at hardworking and talented students who are interested in learning hands-on practical engineering skills and exploring career options in Engineering. The qualification is equivalent to six GCSE’s at level 2 (A*-C) and allows motivated and more able students to study a vocational qualification outside of school with a local training provider. As well as studying for this qualification you will spend up to fifty days across two years gaining experience of work, in a block placement during your work experience time in Year 11 and in some cases during part of your school holidays. You will also take part in other activities including company visits and meeting industry speakers. A typical student on the EAGIT course would have TMGs/ ELPs of A-C in the majority of their subjects. Click here to see more information about the College Application Process - it's a pdf document.
